The 4" offset is typically used to bridge over a lower protruding brick water table. Or other constructions that require you to move slightly from the center of your downspout. The 4” offset has an expanded top and preshrunk bottom end. This makes it fit perfectly into the downspout. Like all other downspout related products, the overlaps are 2". For reference two (2) of the 70° elbows together gives you a 7.5" offset. There is no need for caulking or putting any rivets or screws into the offset. This keeps the inside of the product smooth and water flows freely.
